Information and Care Sheet for the Pale Agama
Pale Agamas (Agama pallida) are very docile and make great first time lizards. They have dark blotches running along side of a white dorsal line and bands on the tail. Sometimes, however, it may be difficult to notice. They can come in different shades of brown, some examples being from a beach sand color to a dried dirt look. Males, when excited or active can turn a deep blue color on the throat and on their sides. Females do not have this coloration of blue, but can have almost blue lines running down their throat when stressed.
Size of a Pale Agama
Pale Agamas grow to around 7 inches long, over half of it being the tail.
Feeding Your Page Agama
Diet should consist of crickets, mealworms, or waxworms coated with a high quality calcium and multi-vitamin supplement.
Caging Requirements for Your Pale Agama
Housing/Habitat: Pale Agamas should be housed in a dry terrarium with an under tank heating pad at one end and soft sand or desert mix substrate. Landscape to simulate rocky habitats, provide hiding places, and basking areas.
Lighting: Because Pale Agama's are most active during the day they need a source of UVB rays. They also need a basking light to digest their food properly.
Temperature: The cooler side of the cage should be no less than 80F in the day time. Their basking spot should stay at no less than 90F. Though my lizard's basking spot is at 98F. Night time should stay around 70F.
Humidity: They like it dry. It doesnt hurt to soak them every now and then however.
