Information and Care Sheet for the Desert Collared Lizard
The Desert Collared Lizard (Crotaphytis bicinctores) is very similar to the Common Collared Lizard, Crotaphytus collaris, in shape and size, but it lacks the bright extravagant colors. Males can be brown to orange and some red or pink on the belly. Females are more black or dark brown. Desert Collared Lizards have elongated scales near the nails and their tail is more triangular in shape than round as with C. collaris. They use external energy for their body heat.

Caging Requirements for the Desert Collared Lizard
Large cage (30 gallon or larger) with sand or rock substrate. Temperature of 85 - 90F with basking spot of 100F +. UV light or unfiltered sunlight required. Low humidity required. Offer water 2 - 3 times per week.
