Information and Care Sheet for the Mexican Fire Leg Tarantula

The Mexican Fire Leg Tarantula (Brachypelma boehmei) is a tarantula native to Mexico in Estado Guerrero. These tarantulas prefer semi-humid climates, and are obligate terrestrial burrowers. They are not the easiest species to keep in captivity and should be only considered hobbyists once comfortable with keeping several other species. The Brachypelma boehmei has red legs, a red prosoma, and a black opisthoma.

Size of a Mexican Fire Leg Tarantula

Adults of the species range from 5 to 6 inches in size. This species of tarantula has a slower growth rate than many of the larger South American tarantula species.

Feeding Mexican Fire Leg Tarantulas

Insects or other small animals such as baby mice or lizards.

Caging Requirements for Your Mexican Fire Leg Tarantulas

Small aquarium with substrate of cypress mulch or coco fiber and shallow water dish with sponge in it. Temperature of 75 - 85 and humidity of 75 - 80%. Coconut husks or similar hiding places.
