Information and Care Sheet for the Yellow Foot Tortoise

Yellow Foot Tortoises (Geochelone denticulate) are from South America. There are several yellow head scales and a horizontal bar behind its eye. The carapace (shell top) is black with a small, distinct yellow areas around the areola on each scute (shell scale).

Feeding a Yellow Foot Tortoise

Dark, leafy greens and natural grasses, brightly colored flowers, veggies, and fruits, and some commercially prepared tortoise diet for protein.

Caging Requirements for a Yellow Foot Tortoise

Housing/Habitat: Large container, pen, or child's wading pool. Aspen, coconut fiber for substrate.

Temperature: 75F - 85F with basking area of 90F.

Lighting: Unfiltered sunlight or UV bulbs during the daytime, with shaded area to escape bright, hot light. 

Humidity: High humidity needed. Water bowl for occasional soaking.
